Washington State Troops-To-Teachers
Washington is also home to one of America’s largest concentrations of active military, we encourage our veterans to continue their positive impact in communities across the state as a new teacher. Veterans are drawn to Washington’s rugged outdoor environment coupled with cosmopolitan urban centers. When you consider Washington’s longstanding connection with the military, our state provides an ideal opportunity for veterans who are “proud to serve again” as educators.
The Washington State Troops to Teachers program helps develop military veterans into qualified teachers. Active duty personnel and veterans who have been honorably discharged are eligible for this program. The Washington State Troops to Teachers program will guide veterans through the teacher certification process.
The Washington State Troops to Teachers program offers a bonus of up to $10,000 to qualified veterans who serve as teachers in eligible schools. Veterans with 90 days of aggregate active service, among other qualifications, after September 10, 2001 are also eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill which includes tuition assistance and certification reimbursement among numerous other benefits.
Note: This program operates under a grant from the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES). Use of the “Troops-To-Teacher” logo does not imply the endorsement of DANTES or the Department of Defense.
